Tutzing in Senigallia
Erasmus Plus Blog Senigallia
In February 2023, a delegation from the Gymnasium Tutzing, consisting of 5 students from Mrs. Ricks' P-seminar "Erasmus+ Agenda 2030", had the honor to travel to Italy as part of the "InSustainablePlanetMode/EnModoPlanetaSostenible" project. There they lived with Italian host families and worked together with students from Norway, Romania, and Spain on activities on the topic: "Inclusion, Peace and Human Rights" - based on Goal 16 of the United Nations Agenda 2030: Fairer institutions. Accompanied by Mr. Pajares and Ms. Ricks, the journey took place by train for reasons of sustainability.
Montag (Lea):
This morning we all went to school with our guest students and were given a tour of the school building. The kick-off event started at 8:30 a.m.
The first thing we saw was a performance by the school's theater group on the topic "In Lak Ech" (= I am you). After that, everyone got name tags. But not with his own name, but with a name of another participant. Everyone then looked for the person who had their name tag and exchanged ideas with the others about things they liked. After a short break, everyone lined up in a large circle and introduced themselves with a cultural object. After that we were divided into groups and we did a scavenger hunt to explore the old town of Senigallia. There were a lot of different tasks. For example, we had to teach each other tongue twisters or dance in front of a castle. After the scavenger hunt we went to lunch. We ate in a “hotel school” and had risotto, meat and tiramisu for dessert. Then we walked back to school and played a game to loosen things up. After some time we formed groups again and prepared a TED talk on the subject of interculturality and anti-racism in these groups. After this workshop, we were free to spend the evening with our exchange partners. I went to a big park with a few others and we played soccer and volleyball.
Tuesday (Sophia):
Yesterday morning we played speed dating at school and León and I got a Valentine's Day present from Staša. Then we went to the Rocca, which is a castle in Senigallia, and visited it. We had a special tour because at two points of the tour, you had to walk in pairs, one had to put on a blindfold and you could feel the different facades. After that, we took a short break where we had some coffee. Next we went to an exhibition in which we were asked to select a specific picture that particularly appealed to us. After that, we had lunch and continued to work on our anti-discrimination speeches. In the evening we went bowling. You could also play other games there, and we ended up winning a few prizes. After that, everyone went to dinner with their families.
Wednesday (Staša):
According to the Italians, yesterday was the hardest day of the week. We all would have to get up earlier, especially Leon, who by the way almost froze to death at the train station, to catch the 8 a.m. bus at school. After a short break, he brought us to the "Grotte di Frasassi", the stalactite caves, where we received a guided tour that gave us information about the discovery and the origin. But all the stalactites and stalagmites spoke for themselves and left all visitors enthusiastic. After this impressive visit, there was again a break for lunch at the same place as before, which in our opinion was very unnecessary. We continued with a hike to reach the chapel, which is located on a mountain. Our guest students scared us quite a lot beforehand, because apparently it is very exhausting and takes a long time to reach them, but in the end it turned out that this "walk" was over after 15 minutes. We also got a short lecture with all the most important information about the chapel and the place, and then of course pictures would be taken and stone towers built. The bus then took us to the next town, where we could learn more about the production of paper and the famous company "Fabriano". Before that, however, there was even a small break for ice cream, which was very good for everyone. In the paper museum we learned everything about the production of paper and its development, we were even allowed to make our own paper. Unfortunately we were very behind schedule, possibly also because the guide herself was very interested in paper, but we had to give up our free time in the old town for that. Finally, the bus took us back to the school and everyone spent the evening with their exchange partner. Above all, dinner was on everyone's agenda, from pizza, spaghetti carbonara, sushi, lasagna and schnitzel, everything was on the menu. The evening was also very exciting for the teachers, as there was a carnival party where Mrs. Ricks and Mr. Pajares rocked the dance floor with their outfits.
Thursday (Leon):
The day started at 6am. For breakfast, there was typical Italian coffee and biscuits. Then we took the bus to school for an hour. In front of the school, we waited for friends and other guest students. Shortly thereafter, Luisa stumbled and almost lay down on the sidewalk. Despite the carnival party, Mr. Pajares is fit because, according to his own statement, he is still young. Around 8 a.m. we listened to a lecture “An Italian Lady In Jerusalem”. The lady told us her story about her journey and then her life in Jerusalem. She also tells us about the problems between Palestine and Israel. At around 11 a.m. we took the bus to Ancona. In Ancona we got a city tour from Andrea and visited the most important landmarks. From about 2:45 p.m. we had free time until 4 p.m. In my free time I had some piadina with Sophia, Stasa, Lea and Luisa. Piadina is a flatbread filled with typical Italian ingredients. After that we went shopping a bit. At 4:30 p.m. we took the bus back to Senigallia. Luisa slept again, like on every bus ride. After that we went with a group to Senigallia to buy gifts for our family. In the evening we walked to the American Graffiti (a burger restaurant) on the beach with all the international students and their Italian exchange partners.
Friday (Luisa):
Today is the last day of our mobility in Senigallia. It all started at 9 a.m. in the Aula Magna, so we were able to get up an hour later. Once at the school, the main objective was to prepare the demonstration and presentation of our week for the Liceo Medi school family. To do this, we first worked on our posture on stage: Francesca showed us that you should stand with your shoulders wide and upright and show energy and presence while sitting. Then we practiced the course of the demonstration: For the presentation of the speeches, everyone had to rehearse their position on the stage and the time to walk up and down, and at 11 it finally started. First, Francesca greeted everyone and explained the aim of our week. Then we played a game with the whole audience asking questions about our personality, our behaviors and maybe our defects. If you could answer the question with yes, you had to get up. This was followed by our short speeches against racism. After a few difficulties with the microphone, each of the participants presented one of the rules for a more peaceful society that they had worked out the day before and also showed one of the exercises from before, in which you walk towards a person, then look into each other's eyes for a moment and move on again . We then presented our performance with various greetings from all participating countries. Finally, Francesca distributed the certificates and a bag for all students. For lunch, there was a buffet with sandwiches and typical Italian carnival pastries. At the official end of the week, music was turned on and everyone danced together. Then it got very emotional because the Spaniards had to go to the train station and everyone except their guest students had to say goodbye. After this beautiful week it was very difficult to say goodbye to everyone... Afterwards we went for coffee with our teachers and one Italian and one Norwegian teacher, where our guest students picked us up. We then went to the center of Senigallia. We went shopping there and ate ice cream. Then we visited the Piazza del Duomo. At the end of this week, which flew by, I had tortellini at home.
Saturday:
On Saturday morning there were a few tears as we parted, because despite the short time we had grown fond of each other before we went back home by train.
